Overnight Oats– What even is that?

Overnight Oats– What even is that?

Are you ready to start implementing an 80/20 lifestyle? Does it seem more doable than extreme fad diets that are sure to fail you?

(For current 30DTHL clients, these newsletters will be reminders to keep your healthy habits going!)

This week I want to talk about a recipe I love, that is super easy, but very filling.

OVERNIGHT OATS:

what you need:

  • mason jar
  • gluten free rolled oats (I used either Publix brand or Red Mill in the purple bag)
  • almond butter
  • non dairy milk (I use almond milk)
  • protein powder (I use Arbonne Simply1 in Banana Pancake flavor)
  • prebiotic fiber for GI health (I use Arbonne GutHealth Prebiotic Fruit and Vegetable Fiber)
  • honey or sweetener of choice (no artificial sugar)
  • fruits, nuts, or chia seeds (optional- I use pistachios)

how to make:

  • add 1/2 cup oats (you can add chia seeds here)
  • add protein + prebiotic fiber + sweetener of choice
  • add non dairy milk (just enough cover mixture)
  • cover + keep in fridge overnight or at least 2hrs
  • top with fruit, nuts, or both!
  • ENJOY!

This recipe made me think of all the protein powders available out there.

Did you know that milk, wheat, and soy are labeled as “major food allergens“?

Here are some reasons I like to stay away from Whey, Milk, Wheat/Gluten and Soy products:

1. Whey protein can trigger acne

what is whey? mixture of proteins isolated from whey, the liquid material created as a by-product of cheese production (did you get bloated just reading that?!)

2. Whey is harsh on the digestion system
-Approximately65 percent of the world is genetically lactose intolerant, according to the US National Library of Medicine.
-The numbers actually get higher when you look at people of East Asian, West African, Arab, Jewish, Green, and Italian descent.

3. Hormones in dairy have been linked to cancer
-According to Dartmouth Medical School, evidence suggests that dairy sourced hormones may be the driving source that causes prostate and breast cancer.

4. Elevated levels of soy isoflavones from soy protein isolates (found in soy protein powders and protein bars) may lead to unbalanced hormone levels.

Harvard Health Publishing advises people to stay away from soy protein isolates due to adverse risks.

If you can, get your protein from food sources, but if you need something that makes life easier and especially on days you don’t want to cook — turn to soy free, wheat/gluten free, and artificial sweetener free plant based supplements– you already know my recommendation is Arbonne’s Simply1 protein!! I hope you find one that works best for your body!

I hope you found value in what I provided today and as always, feel free to message me here with any questions!

 HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEK!
